Book in two languages
For this project I started with reading “Invisible Cities” by Italo Calvino and sketching supporting typography elements at Wicker Park Neighborhood (Chicago, IL).
After exploring layouts of books at Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago, I made few sketches of layout and went through paste-up process that helped me to understand size of page and ways of organizing information. I desided to run original text on the one side and English translation on other. I kept same layout, but switched colors and images (italian text in red, english is in black). Colophon is located at the junction of two types of content, it partly has a role of image in the overall composition of the image.
This is handcrafted book that was printed on OCE printer and binded (french fold) in a copy of 2.
